Privacy Policy

ImgSeek is built on the idea that your data stays yours, and the website holds itself to the same standard: we collect only what a purchase needs. We don't sell data, we don't run ads, and we don't use third-party trackers.

The app: your images never leave your computer

Indexing, searching by image, and pulling images out of documents all happen on your own machine. Your images, documents, file names, and searches are never sent to us or to anyone else.

When a newer version of the app activates your License, it connects to our server once to check the License Key and a device identifier (see "Activation data" below). After that it never checks in again. Older-format License Keys are still verified entirely on your computer, with no connection at all.

When the app checks for updates, it downloads a small version file from download.imgseek.org. That request carries none of your images, file details, or your License Key, though, as with any web request, the CDN serving the file can see the IP address it came from.

What the website collects

Your email address, which you enter when you buy, claim a trial, or recover a key. We use it to send your License Key, trial verification codes, and messages about your order.

Order details: order number, plan, amount, payment status, and the transaction ID and timestamps returned by the payment provider. We use these for delivery, support, and bookkeeping.

Your IP address, recorded when you claim a trial, so that trials can't be farmed in bulk.

Activation data: when a newer version of the app activates, we receive your License Key and a device identifier derived from your hardware. The identifier is already a one-way hash and does not contain your hardware serial number. We use it to cap how many devices each key can activate and to allow one free trial per computer. We store only a further keyed hash of it, plus the computer's name, its platform (Mac or Windows) and the app version; the name is used only to show you which computers are bound when you reach the device limit. To prevent abuse, activation requests are rate-limited per IP address using a hash of the address, never the address itself.

Visit statistics, which we collect ourselves: the page visited, the referring site's domain, the campaign tag in the link you followed if there is one (such as utm_source=reddit), country or region, and device type (phone or computer). No cookies are involved, and the identifier used to tell visitors apart rotates every day, so visits can't be linked to the same person across days.

When you claim a trial, we also note how you heard about ImgSeek if you choose to tell us, and which site or campaign brought you to us that day. The latter is worked out from that day's visit statistics; nothing is stored in your browser. We use both only to learn which channels are worth our time.

Emails we send

Besides the emails you trigger yourself, such as your License Key and verification codes, claiming a trial means we'll send up to 3 follow-up emails around your trial period with usage tips and how to buy. If you'd rather not get them, email support@imgseek.org and we'll stop.

We don't use your address for any other marketing, and we never hand it to anyone else.

Cookies

The site sets a single functional cookie that remembers your language preference. There are no advertising cookies and no third-party tracking cookies.

Service providers

Running the site means some information is processed on our behalf by the providers below, who may use it only as we instruct:

Cloudflare: website hosting, database, and content delivery.

Alibaba Cloud DirectMail: sending License Keys, verification codes, and other emails.

Payment providers: on the English site, Creem, our reseller and Merchant of Record, processes your payment and the billing details it needs for that; on the Chinese site, Alipay through the XunhuPay gateway. We receive only the payment result and a transaction ID.

These providers may process data on servers outside your country or region.

How long we keep it

Order and license records are kept for the long term, so you can recover your License Key at any time and so we can keep our books. Verification codes stop working once they're used or expire. Visit statistics contain nothing that identifies you.

Your rights

You can email support@imgseek.org at any time to see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you, and we'll act on it within 30 days. Once your data is deleted we can no longer help you recover your License Key, and we may keep transaction records the law requires us to retain.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with an updated date.
